The University for Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has received two solar systems from Tino Solutions Limited and its partners Victron Energy, Fronius International and Jinko Solar.
The systems are 500w off-grid and 1500w grid-tied solar systems with 2 of 110Ah batteries and eight 270w panels.
The systems, are meant for the school’s engineering lab, at the Engineering Department, to help it learn more about renewable energy.
Speaking at a brief ceremony to hand over the systems to the school, the CEO of Tino Solutions, Postino Dugle said the school was chosen to receive the systems due to the focus on training students in renewable energy.
“After scouting many universities and polytechnics, we considered UENR as the institution that best deserved our investment in renewable solar equipments in their laboratory to aid practical teaching and learning as the departments focuses more on the teaching of renewable energy courses compared to other institutions.”
He said the gesture was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility.
The 2kwp off-grid and on-grid systems installed will offer lecturers and students of the engineering faculty the opportunity to study and appreciate difference between off-grid and on-grid PV systems.
The Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof. Harrison Dapaah (PhD) expressed gratitude to the company saying that the school ocassional transports its students to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for practicals with such solar systems but with the gesture, they will be able to stay back in the school and learn more about such systems.
“We are very happy to receive this from you, Tino Solutions and we are grateful. Every now and then, we have to transport our students to KNUST for practicals and with this system, it means they can stay back and play around the systems installed. We consider this support as the beginning of many collaborations ahead” he said.
