The parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Awutu Senya Wes,t Gizella Tetteh Agbotui has organised the first-ever Bawjiase Brass Band carnival for the people of Awutu Bawjiase to boost tourism in the area.
The various masquerade groups dressed in different attire showcased diverse traditions and customs.
There were also numerous brass band groups who thrilled the audience to soothing music and dance.
“This whole idea came about when I went for a funeral and when the brass band started playing a lot of people got up to dance and I found it quite interesting and this is what sparked this,” the aspiring parliamentary candidate for Awutu Senya West said.

Speaking to Citi News the parliamentary candidate for Awutu Senya West, Gizella Tetteh Agbotui explained that the festival will be repeated every year as a way of selling the customs and traditions of the people of Awutu Bawjiase to the world.
“It’s all about innovation and doing quality work and that is what I am bringing on board when given the mandate to serve my people. This will bring employment, it’s going to open up the town to tourists among others,” she said.
Some of the brass bands such as AB Brass Band, Unique Staff Band Salvation Army, and Bawjisae Brass band thrilled community members to soothing brass band music.
Winners of the brass band competition, AB Brass band, were presented with cash prizes and some gifts.
Ace Radio Broadcaster with Okay FM, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana who was at the event commended the Parliamentary candidate for the initiative urging the people of Awutu Bawjiase to embrace the carnival.
“Brass band is town crying below the line marketing activation and if we are able to engage the youth in a competition, it will also attract corporate Ghana to sponsor it and even make citizens of Bawjiase who have travelled far to come home,” Abeiku Santana explained.
“There is a new tourism product we call mice which means meeting incentive conference and event and this falls within the mice product and we must embrace it,” the tourism ambassador said.
Some dignitaries who graced the occasion include former Member of Parliament for the area. Hannah Serwaa Tetteh, and Nana Larbie.
