Blackout in the country
The last time a huge part of the country was plunged into total darkness was on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.
The power outage affected parts of Ashanti, Eastern and Northern Regions.
Many Ghanaians took to social media to express their frustration with the loss of power in their homes.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) however blamed the widespread blackout on technical challenges.
The Ghana Grid Company also claimed the outage was due to “power swings”.
The company in a statement said the problem arose from the Cote d’Ivoire interconnection with Ghana leaving several parts of the country in darkness.
