The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan, Lawyer John Kumah has indicated that head porters popularly know as Kayayei have not been left out of the transformational agenda of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.
John Kumah made the remark while addressing some head porters gathered at the AMA Head Office for the “Time With The Head Porters” event organized by the Bold Patriots.

According to the NEIP CEO, thanks to the President, Kayayei will soon have a 600 hostel capacity facility that will greatly reduce the accommodation challenges they face.
He also indicated that strategic plans have been instituted to train head potters in various entrepreneurship modules that will empower them to start their business. Government has also created numerous opportunities for them to acquire new skills and to resettle them in different areas he said.
“This Government continues to do a lot of things to develop the Northern Region, creating jobs and opening up business opportunities so that we can curtail the influx of Kayayei to the southern part of Ghana,” he added.
Mr. Kumah in his concluding remarks urged Kayayei to take advantage of the Free SHS policy Government has introduced as it is crucial to ending the cycle of poverty.
Also present at the event were, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Chief Executive for the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Adjei Sowah and Ebenezer Nartey, MP for Ablekuma Central.
