A London based lawyer and native of Janga in the West Mamprusi District has filed his nomination to contest the Walewale Constituency seat as Parliamentary Candidate in the upcoming New Patriotic Party primaries.
Issahak Ibrahim, 40-year-old, has been described as an instrumental personality who is in touch with the grassroots.
He is also said to be someone who helps people in the constituency in education and livelihood empowerment.
His entourage was mainly polling station executives, delegates and a cross-section of ordinary supporters.
The New Patriotic Party in the Walewale constituency has a delegate population of about 600 and a winner needs to obtain at least, more than half of the total vote cast.
Six aspirants have filed to contest the incumbent MP for the Walewale Constituency, Dr. Sagri Bambangi who is vying for a third term.
The six are Mr. Zakaria Yidana, Seth Panwum, Dr. Susana Alo Tia, Issahak Ibrahim, King James Azotiba and Madam Laribu Abudu.
The Party’s Constituency Secretary, Alhaji Wuni Yidana whilst receiving nomination forms said that Issahak Ibrahim was the next personality who has been supportive of the party in the constituency after the current MP.
Alhaji Wuni Yidana called on the supporters to campaign for the aspirant to win the primaries peacefully.
According to him, the aspirant has donated several items including cash to assist youth groups, women and the party constituency office, a gesture Alhaji Wuni Yidana said puts the aspirant above his colleagues.
In brief address, Issahak Ibrahim said: “even if I lose this contest, whoever wins, I will support the candidate and even help in mobilizing funds for the person.”
“I want to plead with you the executives to ensure a level playing ground for all of us contesting so that at the end of the day, no candidate will be disadvantaged,” the aspirant stated.
He said the constituency is lagging behind because it has not gotten any leader who can advocate strongly for the development of the area and that it needs someone to compliment the vice president’s efforts in developing the communities around the area.
The incumbent Member of Parliament has been criticized for failing to advocate for the development of the constituency.
Any winner in the primaries will have to compete with the NDC parliamentary candidate, Abdallah Abubakari in the general election in December.
