Stop Coronavirus Ghana in collaboration with Jeanie JQ has launched a Free Locally Made Mask Against COVID -19 initiative to provide free non-medical masks to the vulnerable as a measure to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The free non-medical masks will be manufactured from local fabrics and distributed to the vulnerable in society.
The Creative Director of Jeanie JQ, Jeanette Quashie in collaboration with a team of fashion designers will be distributing its first 1,500 free locally made mask.
Jeanie JQ believes this should be a collaborative effort and has a team of fashion designers during the lock-down working from home to support the initiative.”
The Stop Coronavirus Ghana Campaign, a private sector and citizen-led initiative, called on the public to support the initiative since the fight against COVID-19 could be won through collaborative efforts.
“We [Stop Coronavirus Ghana] are excited about this initiative and kind gesture because we believe that through this effort the spread of the virus can be reduced. Research has shown a significant reduction in the spread of the virus in some COVID19 affected countries in Asia and Europe where the whole population wore homemade masks. It served as a barrier between infected and uninfected people from breathing in the virus readily. Clearly – I protect you, you protect me.”
