Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, there has been calls for washing of hands under running water with soap and alternatively the use of hand sanitizers.
Many healthcare centres in Ghana have been seeking for the supply of more sanitizers, soaps, tissues amongst other things to battle the pandemic.
It is in this light that the Fueltrade limited, a petroleum Service provider has donated items worth GHS100,000 to the Ridge and Princess Marie Louise Children’s hospitals in Accra.
Items such as Veronica buckets, bedsheets, gloves, sanitizers, soap dispensers amongst others were donated.
The donation comes on the back of the COVID-19 pandemic which Ghana has recorded 204 cases and five deaths.
Director of New Business and External markets at Fueltrade Limited, Kwabena Agyei-Boahene says it’s part of their Corporate Social Responsibility especially to help curb the spread of the virus.
“We deem it fit to come here today to also help our children as they come to the hospital. Basically is to help fight COVID-19. We hope this gesture will help your work in battling the virus,” he said.
He wants all and sundry to observe the safety protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.
“Our call is that everyone should observe the safety measures by using hand sanitizers, washing your hands under running water with soap and observe social distancing,” he added.
In receiving the items, the Medical Director for the Ridge Hospital, Dr Emmanuel Srofenyoh said the donation will go a long way in caring for patients in the wake of the COVID-19.
“These are the things that are highly valuable for the fight in which we are engaged in. Even though we have been receiving some of these items, the consumption rate is very high because when you prepare a patient to look after. Once you finish one cycle of care you have to discard everything and get fresh items. It is on that note we say a big thank you for the donation,” he said.
