The Constituency Executives and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ledzokuku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region have expressed gratitude to President Nana Akufo-Addo for choosing their Member of Parliament, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye as the Deputy Health Minister-designate.
The President, on Monday, April 6, 2020 announced the appointment of Dr. Okoe Boye as a Deputy Health Minister-designate.
He is to take over from Alexander Abban, MP for Gomoa West, who has been moved to the Communications Ministry as a Deputy Minister.
According to the NPP members in Ledzokuku, the President “made our day” with this announcement which “came as a relief for us in Ledzokuku especially taking into consideration these trying times as the whole world fights this Pandemic named COVID-19”.
In a statement, the NPP added that, “As a result, the Constituency Executives of Ledzokuku would like to officially extend our sincerest gratitude to the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the appointment of an illustrious son of Ledzokuku (Teshie) in the personality of Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye to the esteemed office of a Deputy Minister of State at the Ministry of Health.”
The Constituency Executives further commended Akufo-Addo for “all the hard work and diligent effort that he has put in fighting this novel virus code-named COVID-19.”
They however denied information circulating about Dr. Okoe Boye contesting unopposed in the party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries.
“Before we conclude, it has come to the attention of the Constituency Executives a rumour being peddled by some characters that some bigwigs within the party, particularly at the regional and national levels, desires and are forcefully imposing Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye to stand unopposed in the impending NPP Parliamentary Candidate primaries. We want to say categorically that this tittle-tattle is most unfortunate, concocted and must be treated with disdain,” the statement read.
