A three-month-old baby is among the recent COVID-19 deaths in the Northern Region.
The death is part of the three COVID-19 related deaths recorded in the region.
The latest two cases were from last week, according to the Northern Regional Health Directorate, and were imported cases from the Savelugu Municipality and Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
The other case was of an 80-year-old woman who died in May.
The baby was referred from Savelugu Hospital and “she virtually died on arrival,” the Northern Regional Health Director, Dr. John Eleeza, said to Citi News.
The other was a 24-year-old woman who was referred from Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
“She spent just an hour on arrival and passed away because of the era in which we are, the high index of suspicion made the staff take a sample and the sample came out later as being positive.”
According to the June 17 update from the Ghana Health Service, there have been 66 deaths from the virus in Ghana with the total case count standing at 12,590.
