The Central Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is investigating an allegation of fraud against two of its constituency secretaries.
The party has already suspended George Prince Koranteng of Agona West and Micheal Owusu of Assin South following petitions brought against them.
In a Citi News interview, the Central Regional Secretary of the NPP, Richard Takyi-Mensah, who was tight-lipped about the nature of the allegations brought against the duo, said the party is treating the issue as an internal one.
“For the Regional Disciplinary Committee to go into the allegations and verify the authenticity of the allegations, the two constituency secretaries needed to step aside for investigation to go on. In effect, being suspended indefinitely, turning their appearance before the regional disciplinary committee.”
“This is an internal party matter and I wouldn’t like to put the details of the decisions on air. The regional disciplinary committee will go in, then do it investigations and come with its findings and bring its recommendations to the regional executives’ committees and we will take it from there,” Mr. Takyi-Mensah said.
