The Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin in the Ashanti Region, Eugene Boakye Antwi has pledged to ensure that major road network within his constituency are upgraded by the end of 2020.
According to him, the location of the constituency is strategic and roads in the communities must be given the needed facelift to bring relief to residents and other roads users.
Some residents within the Amakom Electoral area have made several appeals to the Government to fix roads that are deteriorating in the area.
Other residents and road users have recently taken to social media to appeal to the Amakomhene and the MP for the area to take steps in getting the roads fixed.
However, speaking at a short ceremony to announce the rehabilitation of roads within the Amakom Electoral area, Mr. Boakye Antwi assured that all roads within communities in the Subin Constituency will soon be given a facelift.
He said roads within the area will undergo asphaltic overlay as the contractors in charge of the project have also assured of quality work to give a long life-span to the roads after their construction.
“I am of the humble view that, within the next two, three months, major road problems within the Constituency will be dealt with because two additional contractors will be joining JOSHOB. Some are coming in for rehabilitation and others are here to do the asphalting. And I keep saying that we prefer the asphaltic road to the gravelling. Because the asphaltic road will last for two decades or more. If you see the thickness of the asphalt being laid by JOSHOB, you can tell that the good people of Subin can enjoy hustle free roads for the next 20, 30 years and that was the reason why it took some time for the contractor to come to site”, he explained. He added that work to rehabilitate roads within the Amakom and Amankwatia areas has commenced.
The Subin MP called on residents to have trust in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led administration to deliver in ensuring roads in all communities within the Ashanti Region upgraded.
The Chief Amakom (Amakomhene), Nana Adu Mensah Asare expressed satisfaction on the announcement by the Subin MP on the rehabilitation of roads in his area indicating he can now heave a sigh of relief.
He appealed to Government to ensure all projects it started prior to 2020 general elections are not abandoned.
