The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested one person in connection with an armed robbery incident which resulted in the shooting to death of a 32-year-old mobile money vendor on Wednesday night.
The suspect was seized by Police at Kodie while onboard a Daewoo Matiz taxi with registration number AS 880-16.
The deceased was killed at Onwe in the Ejisu Municipality.
Police said the suspected robbers who were on foot, shot dead the deceased, identified as Owusu Agyekum with an AK-47 rifle and fled the scene after making away with his money around 8 pm.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, said this and other robbery cases recorded in the region are under investigation to bring the perpetrators to book.
“Our analysis so far shows some connection with the robbery incident on Wedensday. We are assuring the general public that we are making some inroads. All evidence we’re picking is going to help us get the perpetrators of this crime arrested. We assure the general public that all crimes that have been committed, including robberies, we are making some arrests. Those arrested are in custody,” he said.
