The Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has commended its sponsors for supporting the Federation particularly during the Coronavirus period.
The Board Chairman and President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, Mr. Herbert Mensah, on behalf of the union, expressed their profound gratitude to the sponsors for the overwhelming support amidst the difficulties of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Following their numerous activities during these difficult times, the Ghana Rugby Football Union has been among the many Federations supporting the Ghanaian government in the fight against the disease.
The Federation has been donating personal protective equipment and essential vitamins to the Rugby fraternity and some Ghanaian communities to help mitigate the impact of the virus, and also embarked on awareness campaign aimed at educating Ghanaians on the need to observe the COVID-19 safety protocols.
They have also conducted coronavirus tests over 150 times with 12 people testing positive. This makes them the only sports Federation to carry out the highest number of Coronavirus tests on its members.
In an interview, Mr. Herbert Mensah said, “the Ghana Rugby Football Union wouldn’t have achieved this mark without the support of the sponsors”..
He acknowledged Rugby Africa for its support, Interplast Limited – a plastic fabrication company in Accra for assisting some members of the Union to undergo successful surgeries, as well as other contributions during the pandemic.
Mr. Herbert Mensah also thanked Sunda International ( a comprehensive transnational industrial group integrated with overseas industry manufacturing, international trade, industrial investment, consultation service and information technology service) for providing personal protective equipment and other medical equipment in the fight against the virus.
Another contributor to the Ghana Rugby Football Union is GB Foods (Producers of Gino and Pomo products). Mr. Herbert Mensah thanked them for always coming to the aid of the union amidst the pandemic.
He also seized the opportunity to thank Societe Generale for the overwhelming support in the Union’s Get Into Rugby (GIR) programme by training over 10,000 children to play rugby.
The highly respected sports administrator also thanked other sponsors who have been contributing to the success of the Ghana Rugby Football Union.
