POIMEN Ghana today, on the occasion of the International Youth day is calling on Government to step up its efforts for effective youth engagement and participation in governance and nation-building.
According to a press released signed by POIMAN Ghana’s Director of Research, Caleb Otabil, the Government has not done enough to ensure the effective participation of the youth in Governance.
“State policies intended to incentivize the youth participation seem to be a few and there is a clear stumbling block to the progress of the youth in governance.”
Among the other things POIMEN Ghana wants the state to dispel the stereotypical concepts around the youth as one of the ways to encourage youth participation in the country’s nation-building process.
About International Youth Day
The theme of International Youth Day 2020, “Youth Engagement for Global Action” seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced.
