A Network Engineer, Sylvia-Clare Serwaah Fordjour has supported final year JHS 3 students at Dumasua in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region.
Each of the final year students from two schools in Dumasua namely; Roman Catholic Junior High School and Presby JHS all received 3 exercise books, ruler, eraser, mathematical set, pen, pencil, three face masks and a hand sanitizer.
Sylvia-Clare Serwaah Fordjour, an old student of Dumasua Roman Catholic Junior High School, in an interview with Citi News lamented that parents in the rural community find it difficult to get basic things for their wards to prepare towards the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
“As part of my 40th birthday anniversary, I donated the items to the final year students to encourage them and enhance their performance as they go through their final examination in a few days time. This is my alma mater and hence my choice of the school for this donation. Some parents are also unable to supply the wards some basic things like mathematical sets among others. I believe this little support would go a long way to support these children.”
She admonished the students to put in their best as they prepare to write their BECE.
“Do not be discouraged that you are in Dumasua, a farming community, I also completed this school but with hard work and determination I am where I am today, you can also make it if you remain focused.”
Headmistress of Dumasua Roman Catholic Junior High School, Vida Anyaakuu noted that the donation would go a long way to supporting the students as most of them though have few days to write their examination, do not have the basic tools to write the exams.
