Parliament will later commence the third meeting of the fourth session after more than a month on recess.
The House rose on August 14, 2020, after an eventful session that saw amongst other things the approval of the controversial Agyapa Mineral Royalties deal.
The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu in a Citi News interview said the meeting which will last for four weeks will see a presentation of the 2021 budget.
“We’re meeting for four weeks beginning 6th October to 6th November comprising 20 sittings. The highlight for this third meeting is usually for the accounts. We will do a mini-budget for the first three months; i.e. January to March,” he said.
It will be recalled that the Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye recalled Parliament to commence the third meeting of its fourth session last month through a notice.
A notice from the Parliamentary Service said “The House is scheduled to work on the following bills and papers at their various stages.”
In total, it said 42 bills are expected to be presented to the House.
The Bills include the Judicial Service Bill, 2020, Creative Arts Bill, 2020, Council of State Bill, 2020 and Wildlife Bill, 2020.
The Exemptions Bill of 2019, Anti-Money Laundering Bill, 2020, and Public Universities Bill, 2020 are the among the bills that are already at the Committee level.
