Despite the unexpected disruptions to their plans due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Crown Women Rising Ghana (CWR-Ghana) say they remain fully committed to meeting their objectives for the year, while continuing to work towards empowering women entrepreneurs
At their 2020 associates meeting held on Thursday, October 8 under the theme “Consolidating and Empowering our Women Entrepreneurs” the Executive Director of CWR-Ghana Mrs Nana Sekyere, stated that while the restrictions brought on by the pandemic had affected their projections and operations, the group still “worked tirelessly” to support the women entrepreneurs in their various communities.
“At the 2019 Regional Summit, it emerged that Crown Women Rising Ghana will use workshops and other training platforms to empower and support Ghanaian women in the coming years. However, the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic at the very beginning of this year and its restrictive protocols completely dislodged our annual projections and compelled us to curtail all our strategies and operations,” she said.
“But all the prohibitive barriers of COVID-19 notwithstanding, we refused to be dormant these past months and have been working diligently to empower women entrepreneurs to live impactful lives in their respective communities.”
She stated that CWR-Ghana remain committed to realising their objective of supporting the women entrepreneurs by adhering to the principles of the three ‘Es’ – “empathise, energise and elevate.”
“At Crown Women Rising Ghana, we change lives by impacting one woman at a time and thereby transforming entire communities. Oh what a wonderful world ours would be if the majority of our women were fully empowered, independent and are capable of contributing to upgrade the quality of life of our next generation,” she added.
Mrs. Sekyere said that in order to ensure that the disruptions do not CWR GH had put together a revised plan the remainder of 2020 and beyond, which was outlined at the meeting.
Among the activities planned is an Associates Forum on November 8 for members to share their experiences during the pandemic and how they overcame the challenges brought about by the pandemic.
The group also announced the launch of their newsletter on November 24, through which they’ll share the stories and successes of all their members, who were urged to make inputs.
“It is our fervent hope that with the goodwill of our partners and sponsors, CWR-Ghana shall continually offer support and refuge to our women entrepreneurs,” Mrs Sekyere concluded.
Dr Agyapomaa Kufuor announced that the group intends to organise “a catalogue of training programmes, both technical and management” for Level 1 to 5 businesses.
The topics to be treated at the training programmes include; Business Management Administration and Book-keeping, Marketing and Branding, as well as using and Managing Social Media Tools and Apps, among other things.
The Director of Marketing and Promotion at the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Mrs Agnes Gifty Adjei-Sam, urged the associates to embrace technology in their businesses in order not to be “left out”, as a very significant chunk of the world operates within the digital space.
She also advised the entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the National Export Development Strategy and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to boost their businesses.
