Ninety-three persons are contesting for 33 parliamentary seats in the Eastern Region.
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have candidates contesting for each of the 33 constituencies.
The Ghana Union Movement (GUM) follows with eleven candidates, the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the Liberty Party of Ghana (LPG) both have candidates contesting in three constituencies.
There are seven independent candidates contesting for parliamentary seats in the region.
The seats are Akropong, Suhum, Kade, Fanteakwa North and South, Abuakwa South, and Asene/Akroso/Manso constituencies.
The Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Peoples National Convention (PNC), and the National Democratic Party (NDP) are contesting in one constituency each.
12 of the 93 parliamentary candidates are females whilst the remaining 81 are males.
New Juabeng South, New Juabeng North, Suhum, Akim Oda, Achiase, Abirem, Atiwa East, Fanteakwa North, Abuakwa North, Afram Plains North constituencies have a female parliamentary candidate each.
The Akropong constituency on the other hand has two female candidates.
