The Executive Director of the Busia Institute for Rural and Democratic Development (BIRDD), Mr. Anane Agyei, has donated copies of Dr. Busia’s biography worth GHS50,000 to the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Ahafo, Bono, and the Bono East Regions.

The books were received by Mrs. Ivy Asantewa Owusu, the Bono Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES) at a short ceremony in Sunyani.

Mrs. Ivy Asantewa Owusu praised the leadership of BIRDD for the gesture and noted that the books would help encourage reading amongst students in the three regions and to learn about the exploits of the late Ghanaian Prime Minister, Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia.

The Executive Director of the Busia Institute for Rural and Democratic Development (BIRDD), Anane Agyei in an interview said, “The donation is to support the government’s efforts at inculcating reading habit amongst students; to get the youth to learn about Ghana’s history and achievements and to imbue in students the traits that characterized Busia’s life, patriotism, honestly, discipline, ethics, etc.”

The Busia Institute for Rural and Democratic Development (BIRDD) was established in 2015 to keep alive the vision and ideals of Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia, amongst other things including rural industrialization, promotion of democracy and good governance, respect for fundamental human rights and also to provide mentorship to young people.
