The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama says he will settle all debts owed contractors in the country if elected as President.

According to him, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made life unbearable for the contractors due to its failure to pay them for work done over the years.

Addressing the people of Navrongo during his tour of the Upper East Region, John Mahama promised the affected contractors that the next NDC government will sort them out.

“The government owes contractors. So, to all the contractors who are suffering today, don’t worry there is light at the end of the tunnel. The NDC administration is coming, when we come, will pay all of you what the government owes you”, he said.

John Mahama, also described the Akufo-Addo administration as a scam as he maintains the current government has not performed well enough to be retained.

“If you vote for a government and it comes into power and the quality of your life is going in reverse then you have to vote the government out.”

Mr. Mahama also made a plethora of promises to the people of Navrongo.

He has promised to improve the quality of food offered to students and restore confidence in the financial sector.

Mr. Mahama also slammed the Akufo-Addo government for the job losses the financial sector clean up left in its wake.

“This government has destroyed more jobs than it has created. The only job they can point to is NABCo, and yet they have destroyed more than 10,000 jobs in the bank sector.”

“All the GN banks used to have staff in them all over the country. Today where are those staff? They are all sitting at home.”
