The Member of Parliament and National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Zabzugu in the Northern Region, Alhassan Umar Abaako has constructed and commissioned a new Reproductive Child Health Centre (RCHC) for the constituency.
The facility is to improve the health delivery system in the area.
“I am happy that today, our mothers and children can now have a very comfortable and nice place in the hospital. This place was in a very bad state for our pregnant women”, he said.
Zabzugu is the district capital but lacks proper health care facility for the people.
This was a source of concern for the people in the area who either have to travel all the way to seek medical care at the Yendi hospital because reproductive health care was non-existent and pregnant women were going through difficulties.
The district director of health service in the Zabzugu District, Chief Natogmah Awol, was grateful to the MP for the project.
He said, the hospital has lots of challenges and appealed for more support.
“We are very happy and grateful to the MP for what he has done for us by building and equipping the RCHC in the district. We are grateful but still want to appeal to him that we still have lots of challenges like inadequate staff, medical equipment and transportation among several. We are appealing to the MP to still come to our aid”.
A general nurse at the facility, Pious Abu on behalf of his colleagues thanked the MP for the gesture.
“We are happy, now we have a very conducive place to work. Initially, we didn’t have all this but due to the good gesture by the MP we are happy”.
The MP has also procured 29 beds for the hospital.
About 22 boreholes have also been sunk for communities in the constituency and all junior high schools in the area have been connected to electricity courtesy the MP.
