About fifty nursing mothers at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital Children’s Ward in Sekondi have received support from Michael Gawu, a Takoradi based Radio Presenter.

Michael Gawu, popularly known to many as Premier Gawu, is a trained teacher but showed interest in Radio some 25 years ago and has since been a sensation and a household name in radio in the Western and Central regions.

Premiere Gawu who has since worked at ATL FM in Cape Coast and Skyy Power FM in Takoradi as part of the celebration of his 25th anniversary as a presenter decided to donate hampers of assorted groceries to 50 children and their mothers at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital.

Speaking to Citi News, Premier Gawu said though a trained teacher, he was attracted by a passion to do radio and was again driven by a passion to give as he celebrates 25 years in the media space.

“The motivation comes from what God has done for me for the 25 years I have been in the media space. It has not been easy but has been good. My second motivation comes from my Boss Wilson Arthur. In fact, he gave me the opportunity to work at Skyy media group and I have benefited so much.”

Premier Gawu called on others in the media space can also use such occasions to reach out to the less privileged.

“I could have had a party with some of my colleagues as suggested by some. Some even told me that as an event organizer, I should try and bring Obrafour, Okyeame Kwame, Kinnata, and the likes who are my friends to celebrate but I said no, people need help. You don’t have to be rich or billionaire before you give. You can brighten the corner you are in your own small way.”

The Medical Director of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr. Joseph Kojo Tambil, on behalf of the hospital commended Premier Gawu for his continuous support to the hospital and urged others to follow suit.
