Members of Crown Women Rising Ghana (CWR-Ghana) shared their experiences in overcoming the limitations brought on by COVID-19.
Speaking at CWR-Ghana’s Associates Forum, which was sponsored by Vulcan Holdings, today at the Executive Conference Centre at GIMPA, the women entrepreneurs spoke about the challenges they face and the resilience they displayed amidst the pandemic that, at one point, forced a lockdown in parts of the country.
Meant to be one of the final events of a disrupted year for the group, Associates Forum provided an insight into just how hard CWR-Ghana and its associates have been working during the period.
The Executive Director of CWR Ghana, Mrs Nana Sekyere emphasised the group’s mantra of “Empathise, Energise and Elevate” and how important these principles are this in changing lives and transforming the society.
“We all need to roll up our sleeves as we have got work to do,” she added in her speech.
At the event, Mrs. Sekyere urged the women to join in the efforts of the group insisting that wholesale participation would help ensure the progression of the group, the individuals in it and the community as a whole.
“This is a ministry and as such, each and everyone’s participation is crucial. Your full participation and contribution will not only benefit budding women entrepreneurs and our youth, but it will also go a long way to enhance growth in your business and contribute to the community.”
Mrs Sekyere told Citi News in an interview that she was proud of what CWR-Ghana its ever-growing pool of Associates had done, especially during the challenging COVID-19 period.
She added that the growing influence of the group along with the growing level of support it provides to women was encouraging, although teamwork remains crucial to their success.
“It’s a process, that’s why we’ve categorised them. With each sector, we’ll be able to help each other.” It’s all about networking, listening to and loving each other and it’s all based on our three Es of “Empathise, Energise and Elevate.”
“It’s a journey and one that will be really successful once we work as a team,” she added.
She insisted that the group would end the year on a high, with the Forum and the upcoming release of their newsletter, and come back stronger in the new year.
The event itself was an engaging one, with an exciting and informative ice-breaker session kicking things off.
Associates were grouped into their various fields and were tasked to select an animal with attributes that best encapsulated their field.
Among the choices were the ant, whose industrious nature proved to be quite popular for a number of the groups.
The tortoise’s resilience was decisive for the accessories group while the vision and skill of the spider caught the eye of the fashion group.
Following a presentation by Kimberly Badoe on the benefits of using social media in a business, the forum itself began with various associates sharing their experiences over the last year.
Among other things, the panellists from a number of women-led companies including Silk Africana spoke about the importance of passion and being able to learn and adapt to the changes that were brought about by the pandemic.
