The National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary candidate for Wa West, Peter Lanchene Toobu will be in the next Parliament of Ghana.

This is because he has been successful in the December 7 polls.

Lanchene Toobu, who was a former Executive Secretary to the immediate-past Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante Apeatu, captured 27,550 votes in the just ended parliamentary race.

His opponent, Dari Daniel Kuusongno of the New Patriotic Party, on the other hand, obtained 13,143 votes from the 40,829 total votes cast.

A total of 1,236 votes were rejected.

Prior to the elections, the Retired Superintendent of Police speaking at a parliamentary debate organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), said when he is given the nod, he will prioritize extension of electricity to parts of his constituency without electricity and improve education through the provision of Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) as well as provision of infrastructure in the Wa West Constituency.
