The Member of Parliament for the Atiwa East Constituency, Abena Osei Asare,  has presented Christmas packages to Private school teachers in the Atiwa East District.

According to an October 2020 UNESCO report, over 63 million teachers have been impacted by the COVID – 19 crisis and Ghanaian teachers, including those in the Atiwa East Constituency have not been spared.

At a ceremony held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, the Chairman of the Atiwa East Constituency and other Constituency officers on behalf of Mrs. Osei Asare presented financial support to about 168 private school teachers and 11 headteachers.

The teachers were also given additional packages for Christmas.

According to the Constituency executives, this is MP’s way of showing her appreciation to the teachers for their dedication and commitment to the provision of quality education even in these trying times

The ceremony was also an opportunity to call for broader stakeholder consultation on how to address the educational challenges facing institutions within the Constituency as the COVID-19 lingers.

A general consensus was that co-operation among stakeholders is fundamental to addressing these challenges.

The leadership further assured the teachers and other stakeholders present that, this is only the beginning of the many plans and support packages Mrs. Osei Asare and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) -led administration had in stock for them.

According to the constituency leadership, quality education will remain at the core of President Akufo–Addo’s vision, a vision Mrs. Osei-Asare shares and no crisis will regress the march towards an educated populace.
