A man was attacked by a mob and left bloodied in the Awutu Senya West constituency, police have said.
DSP Irene Oppong, the Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said the reason for the attack is not yet known.
It was initially reported that the man was shot after trying to snatch a ballot box alongside some other assailants.
But DSP Oppong said: “there has not been any shooting incident at Awutu Senya West. What happened that there was a mob attack on a gentleman at Obrachere.”
“Police had that information, we proceeded and met him in a pool of blood,” she added.
Investigations are ongoing into the incident.
The victim of the attack is receiving treatment at the Swedru Government Hospital.
