Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ropeak Construction Limited, a civil engineering company, Mr. Romeo Stephens Wilson and wife, Mrs. Kate Sam Wilson, have through the company, built a new Out-Patients Department (OPD) and renovated the maternity block of the Yamfo health centre, in the Tano-North Municipal area, of Ahafo Region.
At a handing-over ceremony on Tuesday, Mr. Wilson said the gesture was part of his company’s core social responsibility, to give back to society.
He said the project, estimated at a cost of GHS46,800, was to help make service delivery at the health facility, more effective and efficient and bring relief to the patients.
“We have also supported Hwidiem Hospital, some orphanages, and brilliant but needy students in various parts of the region,” Mr. Wilson told newsmen in an interview.
The Paramount Chief of the Yamfo Traditional Area, Nana Ansa Adu- Baah II, who chaired the brief, but impressive ceremony, was full of gratitude and praises to the couple for their kind gesture and urged other citizens of the area to emulate the shining example of the Wilsons.
Nana Ansa Adu-Baah II, who is also the newly elected President of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, made a passionate appeal to the management of Newmont Ahafo North, to consider awarding contracts to indigenes of the area so that they reap maximum benefits of developmental projects.
He also urged Newmont to restart the validation process, in order to create employment opportunities for the youth in their catchment areas.
The Tano North Municipal Health Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Mrs. Eva Aryee commended Mr. and Mrs. Wilson for their contribution towards effective healthcare delivery in the area.
She said the Directorate was in dire-need of two motorbikes and an electricity generator, to make some newly built CHPS compounds in the municipality, more functional.
Rev. Fr. Francis Ayana, Parish Priest of the Yamfo St. Anthony Catholic Parish, and Rev.Samuel Kusi Appiah, the Sunyani Disocessan Methodist Youth Organiser, jointly prayed for God’s blessings upon the couple and dedicated the facilities to the glory of God.
