The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Region has made a significant comeback to regain two of the seats it lost to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 general elections.

The two seats regained are the Akwatia and Upper Manya Constituencies.

In the Akwatia constituency, Ernest Yaw Kumi, who defeated Mercy Adu Gyamfi popularly referred to as Ama Sey, in the NPP primaries could not live up to the billing in the general election.

He was defeated by the NDC’S Henry Boakye Yiadom, popularly referred to as Okoyo, who won the seat with a 1,000 margin.

Upper Manya Constituency

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate, Joseph Tetteh lost the election to the NDC’s Bismarck Nyarko Tetteh, who polled 14967.

The NDC party additionally won the Ayensuano seat after its candidate, Nana Yaw Teddy Addy defeated incumbent NPP MP, Samuel Ayeh Paye.

Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Roads Minister Kwasi Amoko Attah, Works and Housing Minister Samuel Attah Kyea, and Deputy Finance Minister Abena Osei Asare were given another chance by constituents in Ofoase Ayirebi, Atewa West, Abuakwa South, and Atewa East respectively to represent them in parliament for another term

The NDC,amidst stiff opposition from the NPP managed to snatch back the Krobo block seats, which are the Lower Manya Krobo, Yilo Krobo, as well as the Asuogyamang and the Afram Plains North, and South seats.
