A section of the Kaneshie Central Market in Accra has been gutted by a fire.

The fire which started around 11 pm on Saturday evening destroyed some shops and properties.

Nine shops were badly affected by a fire incident and out of the number, six shops were totally burnt while three were partially affected.

No casualties have been reported from the incident.

Although the cause of the fire is still unknown, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were on the scene to quench the blaze.

Some traders and observers fear this may be the work of an arsonist.

This fire comes after a portion of the Kantamanto market in the Central Business District of Accra was destroyed by fire.

The government has offered to relocate the affected traders to the car park of the Accra Railway Station to ply their trade.

Some traders have rejected this offer.
