The New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for the 2020 parliamentary elections in the Ablekuma North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Shiela Bartels has emerged victorious in the polls.

She secured 54,544 out of the 85,392 total votes cast at the end of the electoral proceedings.

Shiela Bartels beat off the stiff competition from the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Winifred Ashley Mensah who obtained 29,704 votes.

The other parliamentary candidate in the race was Princess Awuku of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) who obtained, 717 votes

427 of the votes in the constituency were however rejected.

However,  Sheila Bartels’ campaign team is disputing the certified parliamentary results declared by the EC returning officer.

According to the team, the results do not tally with their independently collated results.

They are demanding that the EC goes over the parliamentary results again before going ahead with the declaration of the Presidential results.

The team led by the constituency campaign manager accused the EC of increasing the votes of the NDC parliamentary candidate by 204 votes, whereas that of their candidate’s votes decreased by 24.

The parliamentary candidate elect has also said her team with go on to challenge the certified results at the regional collation centre if they are unable to resolve it her at the constituency polling centre.
