A pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group in the Wa Central constituency of the Upper West Region is calling on the national leadership of the party to suspend the Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih over it what says is the party’s abysmal performance at the just ended 2020 election.
The group is also demanding that the Wa central Constituency chairman of the NPP, Ali Kamara, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wa, Issahaku Tahiru Moomin are shown the exit in the party.
Other executives the group wants to be removed from office are the Regional Free Senior High School (SHS) coordinator and the Regional National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and NASARA coordinators.
The group has accused the above individuals of masterminding the defeat of the NPP parliamentary candidate for Wa central, Hajia Humu Awudu.
Addressing a press conference, the convener of the group, Alhassan Samad Dumba justified by heads must roll since there is compelling proof that the individuals obstructed the fortunes of the NPP in the constituency.
“There is glaring evidence that the New Patriotic Party performed woefully in both the presidential and parliamentary elections at the polling station where the Regional Minister cast his vote. It is clear that the MCE and the constituency chairman and some parliamentary aspirants in the last NPP parliamentary primaries and others embarked on the door to door campaign convincingly electorate to vote against our hardworking parliamentary candidate. The constituency chairman, regional minister, MCE, Free SHS coordinator, Regional NADMO coordinator, and the Regional NASARA coordinator are the people sabotaging NPP in Wa Central”, he demanded.
This action follows a similar one in the Upper East Region where a group called the ‘Kofi Adda Grassroots for Peace and Development’ wants the defeated New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central constituency, who doubles as Upper East Regional Minister, Tangoba Abayage, to immediately resign for her abysmal performance in the just-ended election.
According to the group, her defeat by over 11,000 votes and the failure of the party to retain its three seats indicate her failure to market the NPP to achieve its target in the region.
The group alleged that Madam Abayage left out Kofi Adda and his supporters from her campaign activities with the conviction that, she will win the seat without their support.
But Tangoba Abayage after losing by 11,126 votes to her contender, Sampson Chiragia, accused Kofi Adda of masterminding her defeat.
