The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), says it is working round the clock to deal with the water shortage in Sakumono and its environs.
Many residents have complained about the lack of water for weeks.
The Communications Manager of the GWCL, Stanley Martey says the Teshie desalination plant has technical issues that have resulted in a deficit of 45,000 cubic metres of water to the communities.
Although no timelines were given, Mr. Martey said the matter will be resolved as a matter of urgency
“For the past five days, we have had a challenge with our desalination plant sited at Teshie-Nungua. Because of that, we are producing under-capacity. So we have less water in the system than before. So what we are doing is to push water from Kpong through Tema into those areas so that they can have water. So we are managing the system.”
“We are working throughout the day to ensure that the issue is rectified.”
He also indicated that residents within Ashongman will have water supply soon as their local challenge has been resolved
“Ashongman area is an isolated issue. It was just a burst within the community. We have had it solved. We expect the complaints will end soon.”
