The First Sky Group has announced plans to finance the establishment of a Kidney Transplant Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as part of its corporate social responsibilities.
The business firm has over the years supported the treatment of patients with kidney failure at the medical centre.
Speaking at the 18th annual thanksgiving service of the First Sky Group, its Executive Chairman, Eric Seddy Kutortse said the group aims at intensifying its support towards the course.
He said “The Company has so far spent 15 million Ghana Cedis and this has gone to support patients who would not have survived because they could not afford the cost of the daily dialysis”.
He noted that “the hope of the company is to establish a kidney transplant centre in Korle Bu, a first of its kind in West African sub-region to cater for patients with kidney failures whose only option now is to be flown to India or South Africa for such treatments”.
The First Sky group incorporates the First Sky Construction firm, the First Sky commodities, Volta Serene Hotel, Serene Insurance Limited, First Sky Bitumen Processing Limited and the Frerol Rural Bank.
The business group has staff strength of over 1,000 permanent staff and 1,700 casual workers.
For over 18 years the company had engaged in thanksgiving services annually to appreciate God for a successful year.
At the 18th anniversary of the annual thanksgiving service of the group, its Executive Chairman, Eric Seddy Kutortse touted some successes chalked by the group despite the outbreak of COVID-19 in the year 2020.
