The Deputy Registrar of the Takoradi Technical University (TTU), Kenneth Boateng, says his outfit is ready to receive students after Zoomlion’s latest fumigation exercise.

Speaking to Citi News, the Deputy Registrar of TTU, Kenneth Boateng said the institute will also enhance its own COVID-19 prevention measures to keep students safe.

“We all know what is happening with COVID-19 globally and its concerns. We are therefore doing this fumigation exercise to make sure that when students return to campus, they will be safe. Our continuing students already have their COVID-19 PPE, and we have enough waiting for the first years who will be coming. So, as soon as they enter and are registering, PPE will be issued out to them. Also, we have hand sanitisers and dryers stationed at various points all to support the fight against COVID-19. This fumigation put us in full readiness to receive our first-year students on the 9th while the continuing students will come on January 18, 2021.”

The Western Regional Manager of Zoomlion, Alhaji Abdulai Abdallah, who is supervising the third phase of the tertiary fumigation said they are committed to finishing the exercise in 11 tertiary institutions in Western and Western North Regions before reopening.

“We have a total of eight tertiary institutions in the Western Region and three in the Western North that we are fumigating under this phase. We are done with TTU and the rest is underway, hence we hope to finish all before reopening. We know that the spread of COVID is something that if we are not careful to disinfect facilities, people can easily spread the virus. That is why we are committed to the mandate given us to ensure the environment is safe for smooth academic work to resume.”

Alhaji Abdallah who was convinced of the thorough disinfection exercise done across the campus, also urged students and lecturers as well as non-teaching staff of TTU to try to observe the outlined COVID-19 protocols.
