The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) will carry out extensive maintenance works in the Volta Region which will result in the interruption of power supply for five days.

The distribution of power to major parts in the Volta and Oti regions will be rationed amongst townsfolk for five days starting from Thursday through to next week Monday.

“The request is to enable GRIDCo to undertake repair works on their transformer that supplies power to both Volta and Oti Regions through the 69 KV transmission line from the Asiekpe Bulk Supply Point.”

Amid concerns that this was a load shedding exercise, the regional PRO for the Electricity Company of Ghana, Benjamin Antwi assured that “we are not in dumsor”.

“It is not like load shedding. This is maintenance work by GRIDCo.”

Parts of Hohoe, parts of Ho, Sogakope, Akatsi, Kpando and Tsito will be among the affected areas.

Mr. Antwi said his outfit was doing its bid to ensure clarity in the affected areas.

“Where there is ambiguity and they expected clarity from us, we provided it for them,” he said.

The outages in the affected areas will be from 6 am to 6 pm on the scheduled days.
