The Kaneshie District Court has discharged the second suspect in the murder trial of law Professor at the University of Ghana, Yaw Benneh.
This was based on advice from the Attorney-General’s Office to the effect that the suspect, Opambuor Agya Badu Nkansah was innocent and should be discharged.
Prosecutor, Inspector Ebenezer Teye-Okuffo, disclosed this to the court on Monday, March 15, 2021.
Opambuor Agya Badu Nkansah was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder after the deceased lead suspect, James Nana Womba allegedly confessed to killing the law professor.
Womba died in October 2020 while in police custody and Opambuor remained in custody albeit hospitalized throughout a greater part of his remand.
The third suspect, a 25-year-old Ebenezer Kwayisi also known as Junior, is to be charged as per the advice from the Attorney General’s Department.
He has been remanded to reappear in court on April 12, 2021.
Professor Benneh was killed at his Adjirigano residence in Accra in September 2020.
