The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, left Ghana on Thursday, April 15, 2021, for Brazzaville, capital of the Republic of Congo.
President Akufo-Addo is attending the swearing-in of H.E. Denis Sassou Nguesso, President-elect of the Republic of Congo.
A statement from the Presidency said President Akufo-Addo is embarking on the trip in his capacity as Chairperson of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
“The President was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, and officials of the Presidency and Foreign Ministry,” the statement noted.
President Nana Akufo-Addo will return on Friday, April 16, 2021.
“In his absence, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, shall, in accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution, act in his stead.”
