Cargill Ghana Limited, a Cocoa Processing plant in the Free Zone Enclave in Tema has donated GHS5,000 to support Citi FM’s Easter Orphan Project.

The company, which started operations in 2008 and processes Cocoa Beans into Cocoa Powder and Cocoa Butter said the donation formed part of its contribution to improving the lot of those disadvantaged in society.

“We are conscious of the impact we can have and have chosen to put our knowledge and expertise at work to the benefit of the less privileged in the communities where we do business… Within the organisation, we have employee-led volunteering group known as Cargill Cares: we and our colleagues put our knowledge, skills, time and resources at work to address practical needs in the areas of education, environment, health and nutrition,” the production manager explained.

He added that “We are happy to support the Eastern Orphan Project organised by Citi FM, supporting with ₵5,000.00 can help improve nutritional and educational needs of the children.”

Every Easter, Citi FM solicits food and general items from its listeners and corporate bodies to be donated to people who need it, including the Baptist School Complex Orphanage (BASCO) at Trotor near Suhum in the Eastern Region under a project named the Easter Orphan Project.

The items solicited are rice, gari, beans, sugar, maize, milk, biscuits, drinks, detergents, toiletries, hand sanitisers, disinfectants, among others.
