President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the government has begun the construction of 80 courts across the country.
The President said the construction works which are at advanced stages of completion is in fulfilment of a promise he made during his state of the nation address in March this year.
Speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony for the commencement of work on a new Court of Appeal complex and permanent residential facilities for Court of Appeal judges, in Kumasi, Nana Akufo-Addo said all dilapidated court structures will be replaced.
“Through the Ministry of Local government and the District Assembly Common Fund, government has commenced in an unprecedented initiative the construction of 80 courts with accompanying accommodation for judges across the country. These structures are at advanced stages of completion to help address the problem of inadequate court infrastructure”, the President said.
“Government will continue to implement policies to advance the rule of law, and, thereby, reinforce the confidence of the people, and shore up our nation’s reputation as a country governed by the rule of law”, he added.
