Police in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region have arrested Emmanuel Adjei, a 21-year-old man, in connection with the death of a five-year-old boy at Boete in the Obuasi East District.
According to police, the body of the five-year-old was found under the bed of Emmanuel Adjei.
The boy was declared missing but was later found in the room of the suspect.
Speaking to Citi News, the Crime Officer for the Obuasi Police Municipal Crime Office, Superintendent Emmanuel Issaka stated that they found out about the missing child after the father reported the case to the police.
He stated that the suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody as they continue their investigations.
“We were here at about 11:30 when a man came in and said his child was missing. So we gave him a police extract to go to the media houses for some announcement. Later he returned to inform us that the boy has been found in the room of a tenant at Boete. So we rushed to the place and found that the boy was dead. About 30 minutes after we found the body of the boy, we received information that the suspect, Emmanuel Adjei who earlier escaped, was seen at a community called Diewousu, so we dispatched some men there and arrested the suspect.”
He added that the child’s body is now at the Obuasi Hospital’s morgue awaiting autopsy.
“The body of the boy has been deposited at the Obuasi hospital morgue,” Supt. Issaka said.
