The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase in the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak has urged Muslims to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr festivity in moderation.
He advised the youth and inhabitants in Muslim communities to be mindful of the COVID-19 pandemic and eschew acts that will render their month-long fast invalid.
The Member of Parliament in delivering his Eid-ul-Fitr message to Muslims also called on the well-to-do in Muslim communities to extend a helping hand to the poor.
“May Allah continue to bless us, our children, family, and country. May we continue to live in peace and be each other’s keeper. As we celebrate Eid, I want to take this opportunity to remind all of us that COVID-19 is not gone. The virus is still with us so let’s ensure social distancing and wear our mask”, So let’s keep safe in this festivity he advised.
This year’s month-long fasting by Muslims started on April 13, 2021, to mark the eighth month of the Islamic calendar.
Muslims believe the Holy Quran was revealed in Ramadan and throughout the month, they fast and engage in other rituals to get closer to Allah.
Eid-ul-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm).
The day marks the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting.
