President Nana Akufo-Addo’s Advisor on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare has described as unfortunate the breach of COVID-19 safety protocols by members of the Christ Embassy church in Accra.

Trending videos of the alleged gathering, dubbed “Pneumatica Night” showed a mostly unmasked crowd cheering and dancing to the ministration of their equally unmasked leaders.

Dr. Nsiah-Asare in an interview with Citi News said “Friday night’s incident is rather unfortunate.”

“Outside the police action, we haven’t taken any other action. We are waiting for their report, and I hope it will be done well according to law,” he said.

Dr. Nsiah-Asare however commended the larger Christian community for its cooperation with the government in the fight against COVID-19.

“But all in all, the churches have been very helpful in the fight against the pandemic. Most of the churches comport themselves and generally stick to the safety protocols. They have been cooperative so far.”

Meanwhile, Police in Accra are investigating the alleged breach of COVID-19 safety protocols at the gathering held at the Fantasy Dome at the Trade Fair Centre on Friday, April 30, 2021.

According to the police, the event puts the entire country at a high risk of COVID-19 spread at a time when the country is working against a third wave of the virus amidst the challenges in getting jabs for the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination exercise.
