The mother of Michael Kofi Asiamah, a 13-year-old boy who died at the Korle Bu Teaching hospital following complications from a brain surgery, has recounted her ordeal in an interview with Citi News.
While narrating the heart-wrenching story, Cordelia Ama Selormey remarked that “I had absolute confidence in the doctors at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. The doctors did not let us down, but the system did”.
Michael died on April 9, 2021, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where he was receiving treatment after undergoing two successful surgeries to remove a brain tumor.
He was buried on Saturday, May 8, 2021.
About $30,000 had been raised through crowdfunding to support Michael’s surgery.
