As part of activities to mark this year’s Mother’s Day, Delta Paper Mill Limited, manufacturers of Flora Tissues, has donated assorted items from its Flora range of products to nursing mothers at the Maternity Block of Tema General Hospital
Speaking to citinewsroom.com, the Head of Marketing of the company, Barbara Incoom, said the donation forms part of the company’s recently launched corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign dubbed, Flora Care, which is intended to give back to the community where it operates.
She said Delta Paper Mill is committed to impacting more lives through its CSR programmes and will thus embark on bigger projects to fulfill its promise.
The Midwifery Officer in charge of the facility, Stella Sefa, lauded Delta Paper for the initiative and pledged to continue collaborating with stakeholders to improve maternal health in the Tema community.
She said one major challenge the hospital currently faces is the non-payment of bills after delivery by some mothers, leaving authorities with no option but to keep defaulters for days, a situation that causes congestion and general discomfort in the wards.
Ms. Sefa appealed to philanthropists and benevolent organisations to support maternal healthcare in public hospitals to help address the issue of detained mothers.
In all, 120 special gift packs were presented to patients and staff at the various wards within the maternity block of the hospital.
