A Deputy Director of Political Affairs at the Chief Of Staff’s office, Harriet Kyeremateng Oppong, has donated some science equipment to the Nkoranza Senior High Technical School.
The gesture was to appreciate the school for winning the maiden edition of the Bono-Ahafo Zonal Championship of the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
The items include six microscopes, 50 cement bags, and a laptop computer.
Mrs. Harriet Kyeremateng Oppong who made the donation on June 25, 2021, stated that the school’s victory has made Nkoranzaman proud and thus needs to be commended and supported.
Speaking to Citi News, the Assistant Head Mistress of the school, Philomena Evelyn Mensah, stated that the donation will help improve teaching and boost the school’s chances in the 2021 NSMQ Competition.
She however called for more assistance to help ease the school’s significant infrastructural and teaching challenges.
“We are faced with several challenges. Even our gates are nothing to write home about. You can’t even recognize it’s a school gate, so just as you have done your best with these donations, we call on you and other benevolent organizations and persons to come to our aid in other areas where we are lacking.”
The Nkoranza Senior High Technical School beat the St. James Seminary SHS, Sunyani and Techiman SHS in the Bono-Ahafo Zonal finale on the 20th May 2021 and were crowned as the 2021 NSMQ Bono-Ahafo Zonal Champions.
