Police in the Eastern Region say they will arraign before an Akropong court suspect Kwame Dankwa who allegedly shot and killed his friend over GHS5 debt on Monday, June 21, 2021.
Police at Akropong arrested the suspect who went to the house of the deceased, whose name was only given as Yaw, ostensibly to retrieve his money, and allegedly shot him when a misunderstanding broke out.
The Eastern Regional Police Command told Citi News the suspect will be charged with murder.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh said “we will take him to court tomorrow [Monday] to have him remanded. We will then forward the docket to the Attorney General’s office.”
“The committal process will start at the Magistrate Court in Akropong. This is a felonious offence. He must be tried by a higher court. We are only seeking for him to be remanded tomorrow, so we begin the proper processes.”
