The 2021 AD Scientific Index (Alper-Doger Scientific Index) has just been released.
The AD Scientific Index is a ranking and analysis system based on the scientific performance and the added value of the scientific productivity of individual scientists.
The index was developed by using the total and last 5 years’ values of the i10 index, h-index, and citation scores in Google Scholar. In addition, the ratio of the last 5 years’ value to the total value of the above-mentioned indexes is used.
Using a total of nine parameters, the “AD Scientific Index” shows the ranking of an individual scientist by 12 subjects (Agriculture & Forestry, Arts, Design and Architecture, Business & Management, Economics & Econometrics, Education, Engineering & Technology, History, Philosophy, Theology, Law / Law and Legal Studies, Medical and Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Others), 256 branches, 11,700 institutions of employment, 186 countries, 11 regions (Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, Oceania, Arab League, EECA, BRICS, USAN and COMESA) and in the world.
The University of Ghana Business School Performance
In the 2021 index, six scholars from the University of Ghana Business School made it into the top 100 most proficient scholars in Ghana. These scholars were Professor Joshua Abor from the Department of Finance, Professor Richard Boateng from the Department of Operations and Management Information Systems, Professor Mohammed Amidu from the Department of Accounting, and Professor Kwasi Dartey Baah from the Department of Organisation and Human Resources Management.
The Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship was the only Department at the Business School with two scholars as part of the top 100 scholars in the country, Professor Bedman Narteh and Professor Robert E. Hinson, the Head of the Department.
This strong showing of the University of Ghana Business School in this latest ranking goes to reinforce the strong scholarship profile of the Business School, and its pre-eminence among Business Schools in Africa.
Professor Robert E. Hinson ranked #1 marketing scholar in Africa
In the 2021 AD Scientific Index, Professor Robert E. Hinson, the Head of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, made a particularly strong showing in the Business and Management and Marketing sub-domains of the 2021 AD Scientific Index ranking.

The number one scholar in Africa ranking establishes Professor Robert E. Hinson as a leading advocate for the marketing profession in Africa, and Professor Hinson avers that this achievement was only made possible by the grace of God.
He notes that his switch from a more lucrative advertising agency position to public University lecturer position was occasioned by his personal brand vision of becoming one of the leading voices in Marketing on the continent of Africa.
He believes that by God’s infinite mercies and the direction and help of several mentors and helpers like Professor Kevin Ibeh (Birbeck, University of London), Professor Charles Blankson (University of North Texas), Professors Olav Sorenson and John Kuada (Denmark), Professor Helena Van Zyl (University of Free State Business School), Professor Kofi Dadzie (Georgia State University) and others too many to mention, his rise to Professor of Marketing, has been made possible.
Prior to joining the University of Ghana, Robert worked as an advertising agency executive from 1998-2003. In that time, he worked on multinational brands like APC, Acer, ‘SG-SSB, Canon, Daewoo, Dark and Lovely, Carsons, Golden Tulip, LG , Lone Star Airways (Liberia), Lufthansa, Microsoft, Mercedes Benz, Peugeot, Rexton, Symantec, and Steers He also worked on local brands like Epack (a mutual fund product from Databank), Enterprise Insurance Company Limited, ELAC Funeral Finance Policy, Enterprise Life Assurance Limited, Fidelity Group, First Atlantic Money Transfer, Golden Beach Hotels, NIB Bank Limited, NTHC Asset Management, NTHC Horizon Mutual Fund, NTHC Properties, Oman Fofor, Protech, Poly Tank, and Remittance Processing Limited.
Professor Hinson is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK, American Marketing Association, Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana, Institute of Public Relations, Ghana, and the Advertising Association of Ghana. He holds in DPhil in Marketing from the University of Ghana and a PhD in International Business from the Aalborg University Business School in Denmark.
