The leadership of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has petitioned the Electoral Commission (EC) to nullify the election of 14 party officers as executives of the party.
The PNC leadership said the 14 which includes the Deputy General Secretary, Jacob Amoako and National Treasurer, Emmanuel Akanea Adams were not duly elected.
The party’s leadership in a statement said there was no notice of poll or popular acclamation to elect the 14 officials.
“No Notice of Polls was sent to the sixteen regions and neither a popular acclamation nor a vote of Yes or No to elect them was conducted as implied in PNC’s constitution Article 41 and 42 as amended 2015”
The party is therefore asking the party officials to step aside until “a proper election is conducted.”
The party held its congress in the sixteen regions of the country to elect its national executives on September 3, 2020.
Below is the statement from the party
THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS SHOULD NOT BE RECOGNISED AS OCCUPANTS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE POSITIONS
Kindly accept the compliment of the day from us.
On the 30th Day of September, 2020 the PNC held a Congress at the sixteen (16) regions of the country simultaneously to conduct an election of its National Executives. Below are the individuals who were going unopposed and were not properly elected. No Notice of Polls was sent to the sixteen regions and neither a popular acclamation nor a vote of Yes or No to elect them was conducted as implied in PNC’s constitution Article 41 and 42 as amended 2015.
Deputy General Secretary:

Treasurer:
- Emmanuel A. Akannae
Deputy Women Organizer:
- Christiana Fugah
Youth Organizer:

Owing to this, the party is unable to state who a first deputy and a second deputy are in the cases of deputy portfolios. Again, the Communication Secretary is supposed to be appointed as instructed by Article 57 of the PNC’s constitution.
Due to the above discrepancies that contravene the PNC constitution, the party Regional Chairmen who constitute an integral part of the National Executive Committee are asking the above officeholders to step aside until such a time that proper election is conducted.
We count on your usual assistance.
Yours faithfully,
