The Ghana Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI), has launched its 10th anniversary under the theme, ‘Advancing Project Management Excellence in Ghana’.
Addressing journalists in Accra, the President of PMI-Ghana, Jumoke Lafenwa, reiterated the call on organisations to endeavour to ensure efficiency in the execution of projects to achieve maximum results.
Ms. Lafenwa described the increasing number of reported stalled national projects as a drain on the nation’s resources, and called on the government, private individuals, and donor organisations to partner with PMI to help boost the success probability of projects for development.
“It has been proven that the introduction of a certified Project Management professional to a project increases its success probability to 75%, cutting down on waste and time overruns to guarantee its successful completion,” she added.
The Chapter Secretary, Abena Ayim, said that as part of its professional requirements, the project management profession entails making an impact, achieving results, and offering value to organisations with an accountability mindset.
She said PMI has since its establishment in Ghana become the preferred hub for all project management-related issues which include empowering members and volunteers with quality programs through advocacy, coaching, mentoring project health diagnostic skills, and experiences aimed at providing exceptional value delivery solutions to organizations, businesses, and governments.
Since the chapter’s formation in 2011, its membership currently stands at 822 (547 PMP certified) comprising professionals from healthcare, energy, telecommunications, finance, construction, IT, aviation, agriculture, engineering, manufacturing, education etc.
