The Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Elizabeth Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey, has commended Citi FM and Citi TV for successfully putting together the 2022 edition of the #BackToYourVillage Food Bazaar under its Heritage Month campaign.
Giving the welcome address at Day 1 of the food bazaar on Saturday, March 26, 2022, the Accra Mayor said “I would like to applaud Citi FM and Citi TV for coming up with this initiative to promote the consumption of our local delicacies and safeguard our rich Ghanaian culture as well as offering us the opportunity in an exciting way to weave together our different cultures.”
She further advocated for the consumption of local delicacies.
”Many developing countries are battling with non-communicable diseases such as cancer and heart diseases. Our traditional staples such as kontomire, garden eggs, ayoyo and many others show high anti-oxidant activity and can therefore be useful for preventing these diseases.”
”If the trend of buying imported food continues, it will deny stakeholders in the local food business the opportunity to make money.”
Madam Elizabeth Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey further noted that the AMA “has been supporting local food industries by giving funds to the industry players, thereby eradicating poverty.”
She further assured of the assembly’s continuous support to the agricultural sector.
”We will do this by showcasing their farm products and authentic Ghanaian foods through programmes such as food bazaar to remind us of our roots and protect our culture and traditions.”
The 2022 Back To Your Village Food Bazaar, was powered by Citi FM and Citi TV.
It was a memorable experience for hundreds of patrons who trooped in to taste a variety of indigenous Ghanaian delicacies and drinks.
This year’s edition took place at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) new office complex at Kimbu, from Saturday March 26 to Sunday March 27 to climax the Heritate Month.
With special provisions made for both the young and old, the bazaar provided an ideal family hang out experience as no member of the family was left out.
The #BackToYourVillage Food Bazaar 2022, was sponsored by Frytol, Fortune Rice, ADB Bank, EU in Ghana, Malta Guinness and supported by the Ghana Tourism Authority and AMA.
